What is Whole Food, Plant-Based (WFPB) Eating?

WFPB eating focuses on consuming minimally processed, whole plant foods that nourish your body and support overall health. Here's what it looks like:

  • Whole Foods: Unprocessed or minimally processed ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds.
  • Plant-Based: The diet is centered around foods that come from plants, excluding all animal products, including meat, dairy, and eggs.
  • Low in Processed Foods: WFPB minimizes or avoids refined sugars, oils, and highly processed products.

Key Benefits of a WFPB Diet

Supports Heart Health: Research shows that a diet rich in whole, plant-based foods can lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Promotes Weight Management: Eating whole, plant-based foods helps with healthy weight management due to lower calorie density and high nutrient content.

Improves Digestion: The high fiber content in plant-based foods supports healthy digestion and gut health.

Boosts Energy: WFPB eating provides a steady source of energy through nutrient-dense foods that nourish and fuel your body naturally.

Reduces Risk of Chronic Disease: Studies suggest that a WFPB diet may lower the risk of conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers.
